Parents and teachers are often in search of the most working methods of child development, which would help to improve children’s memory, attention and thinking. Very good in this case to turn to the game.
There are games that develop certain abilities and skills: observation, dexterity, eye, etc. In addition, many games can be effectively used in the study of a particular school subject. I bring to the attention of readers a number of educational games that used itself or my colleagues – teachers, educators, tutors.
Observation Development Games
Tell me what’s painted
For the game we choose a picture, about 15×15 cm, or a postcard. We take a sheet of paper that would completely cover the picture, in it we cut out a circle with a diameter of 1-2 cm and cover it with a sheet of picture. The child should look at the picture, not revealing it completely, but only through an opening, moving it in different directions. After one or two minutes, the child describes what is depicted in the picture. Additional effect. We set the task of speech development: in this case it is necessary to ask for more details and to tell about the image. You can make a story based on a picture. Ask me to think of what happened before or after the story.
Did you notice everything?
He plays in a pair, but you can play with one child, then you make a pair for him. We take different pictures, we offer a picture to each participant. It takes 3-4 minutes to review and remember the image as much as possible. Then the players change pictures and ask each other questions about what they see one by one, finding out as much detail as possible. Additional effect. Speech development – the ability to put a question and give a detailed answer. The task when studying a foreign language works very effectively, skills are practiced: picture description, question setting, vocabulary training.
Name the action
Playing or playing sits with his back to the presenter. The presenter performs different actions with different objects: he hits an object against an object, flips over a book, throws the object on the floor, tears or wrinkles paper, etc. Children should know the action and the object with which it was performed, and say so without turning around. Very useful exercise-game for language learners. It trains the vocabulary, works out a certain grammar, develops spontaneous speech skills.
Guess who was doing what.
Held with a group of children. One of the players goes out the door or turns away. Other players are given the task to perform various actions – someone to run, someone to jump, someone to squat, etc. Duration of 1-1.5 minutes. On command, the children abruptly cease their actions and freeze. We ask the driver to come in or turn around, his task is to guess the appearance and positions of the participants, who committed what action. It is good for use in physical education classes as well as in foreign language classes.
Games on agility and precision movements
Have time to catch up.
Playing with a group of children. At the beginning of the game, participants are calculated in the order of numbers. Players stand in a circle, in the center vertically set a stick or pointer, holding it from above by hand. The stick is suddenly released, giving the number of the participant. The task of a player with this number is to pick up the stick without leaving his seat. If a player fails to catch the stick or changes his position, ask him to turn his back without leaving the circle and continue the game. If you make a mistake twice, you’re out of the game. The one who catches the stick becomes the lead. The last remaining in the game are considered the most seasoned and clever. We solve the tasks of developing appropriate skills in physical education. You can play when you pass the “Account” or “Numerical” theme.
From 6 to 10 different items are laid out on the table. The kids look at them for 20-30 seconds, remembering where they are. One of the players is blindfolded and then called two objects and asked to change their places: one of the objects takes the exact place of the other and vice versa. You can only touch with your hand the items that have been named.
If a player has managed to cope with the task, they name two more items, etc. It is possible to diversify the game by entering the option “hints” or “help of a friend”, when other players can help the driver by serving commands: “right”, “left”, “forward”, etc. The game is also effective in foreign language lessons – the development of vocabulary, practice of team presentation.
Sense of time games
Finding words at speed
A certain amount of time is set, for example, 3 minutes. The player or players are given cards with “hidden words”. For example, it could be: THE BROTMFRONTECMUPHYASARYASSLGSHILLOCKANUM Players are given the task – after working through the specified amount of time, search for as many words as possible. And you have to stop on your own, without the host hinting. If we play with one child, he gets points for each word, plus bonus points for correct and accurate determination of the time interval. If we play with several children, the one who found more words wins, plus earned bonus points. The game is good for use in language classes, both in foreign languages and in the native language. Cards can be drawn up taking into account the topic being worked through. For example, words on a certain topic or a certain part of speech.
How long does it take?
Let’s ask the players to name the time for which they will be able to tell their favorite poem (or sing a song, or pronounce a patter). The winner is the one who determined the exact time. The game can be used in native language or foreign language classes. In conclusion, it should be noted that one of the main advantages of the games is that thanks to the game children and adults form one team. Children become accomplices and co-authors of adult education. If a child is fascinated by the game, he gives himself to it entirely, overcoming difficulties, developing his abilities and skills.
